Corky Hilliard, Cancer survivor

When Corky Hilliard’s surgeon in Austin, Texas, predicted that the treatment for her relapsed tongue cancer would radically affect her speech, she turned instead to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. “They gave me a sense of security and future — and hope,” she says.

Today, Corky is cancer-free and speaking clearly. She realizes how hard it is for medical researchers to get funding, so she has dedicated a percentage of her estate as a bequest to MD Anderson.

Corky says, “There’s never been a better time to do this than right now. I’ve gotten more sense of satisfaction from helping MD Anderson and their mission than almost anything I’ve ever done.”
